SnagR is a web application for Site management (and snagging) throughout the construction phase.
It includes…

  1. Job/Work/Snag plotting on plans
  2. Locations,Photos,Descriptions,Specifications to describe the work
  3. Internal and external email communications
  4. Meetings, news and reporting
  5. Handheld Device Data Capture of new Jobs and Photos

SnagR is an easy to use, graphical application for use by the whole
construction team from management to sub contractors.

Locational Plotting

SnagR offers a very accessible way of plotting work using visual symbols in exact locations. Symbols, short and long descriptions, photos and attached documents can be used to accurately define the work. Both Site and Plan based reports are able to be printed offsite. This hardcopy is still the most useful aid to work on site.

This plot shows the job number, the sub-contractor, priority and most importantly the location.

Buildings are represented by a series of images linked together with drilldown symbols that allow the application users to identify the locations of all work required.

The images can be taken from CAD drawings, photos or scans of architects drawings, photographs of existing buildings (from a mobile phone) or digital schematics. Photographs and schematics work well for buildings where CAD drawings don’t exist. All images are automatically optimised for internet/website usage.

Jobs are Grouped

Groups are usually related to subcontractors or trades. When using the SnagR application the person logged on sees only jobs from his/her chosen group. Users can belong to more than one group, for example the Site Manager and QS would typically belong to all groups.

Sub Contractor Reports

Each sub contractor can print off reports of all their work or with one click of a button all contractors will be emailed a report of all their jobs as a PDF attachment – What could be easier!

See Reports tab for further details.

Communication

Full internal and external emails and user profiles with photos combine to get exact information to whoever needs it in the team.

Quality

Using SnagR means high quality, organised and efficient site management. This in turn will keep costs down to a minimum.

Accountability

Transparent operation. All jobs (and their history) as well as meetings and internal communications are held on the database. Jobs are only visible until they have been signed off by the problem owner. The data however remains on the database and can be referred to later if required.

Quantity Surveyor.

The system gives an instant visual assessment of the number of jobs outstanding for each trade/group which is a useful tool for the QS to use before authorising payments.

Communication and control = Efficiency and Savings

Site Manager(s)

Have a separate notepad/diary for their own tasks. These are private to them and prove very useful to quickly record work that might otherwise be forgotten or remain on scraps of paper.

Statistics

Can be produced to show for instance the number and type of jobs by site, group (sub contractor) etc. Time taken and performance can be assessed for all team members.

Compliance with Statutory Regulations

Can be shown/recorded.

Technical

SnagR uses standard industrial strength, state of the art Microsoft technology including Asp.net 2.0, Internet Information Server 6 or 7, Ajax, XML, SQL Server 2005 – this guarantees future compatibility problems will be minimal. As SnagR is a web application it is browser based and no software rollout is ever necessary. The system is available to authorised users from wherever there is an internet connection.

PDA Data Capture - makes life easier. Communication and Control = Efficiency and Savings PDA / Handheld device on notepad

You log in to the smart device to gain access to the work screens.

You are able to capture new job information and photographs using a PDA. You are also able to see existing jobs plotted in locations just like the web application.

You can update the status of the existing jobs to fixed or open as required. Data is then synchronised with the main database.

Snag/plots from the database are drawn onto the base drawing along with drill down symbols to allow you to link to other drawings. Synchronization takes place using web services hosted by the main web application.

This is the plan screen where the snag/plots from the database are drawn onto the base drawing along with drill down symbols to allow you to link to other drawings.

Clicking on an existing plot allows you to view the associated picture and the plot description as well as to alter the status of the job to either fixed or open.

You can also add new jobs or snags as you see them and the user is invited to take a photo of the problem which is then automatically associated with the new plot. (see below left)

The screen shot on the right shows the synchronization of newly captured plots and photographs as well as new status (fixed) information for existing plots.

Synchronization takes place using web services hosted by the main web application. Having sent new data up to the database the user is then prompted to download the latest set of plot data which, of course, will include the newly added plots that the user (and/or other users) have added and will not include all those plots that have been designated fixed.

Sub Contractor Reports Reports are for each sub contractor and may include all their ‘Work to Do’ list or just work resulting from a specific purge, for example a Clean Up or Health and Safety check. Reports show locations and photos as well as descriptions and ‘Do By’ dates.
